The short answer: The Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro is a wired video doorbell that Vivint installs. The draws Vivint publishes are a tall 180° view that shows packages at your feet, package detection, and Smart Deter, which can flash a light ring and play a sound when someone lingers near a package. It suits people who already want a Vivint system, or who do not want to install a doorbell themselves. Offer details stay on Vivint. See current Vivint offers from the button on this page.
What Vivint publishes
| Detail | What the source says |
|---|---|
| Field of view | Vivint's product page says 180° × 180°. The Doorbell Camera Pro quick-reference sheet says 180° diagonal, vertical and horizontal. |
| Detection | Person and package detection. Smart Deter can respond with light and sound. See the radar note below. |
| Power | Wired, with no backup battery on the quick-reference sheet. That sheet lists 12–24 V AC or DC, 1.0 A minimum, for model VS-DBC300-WHT. |
| Weather rating | IP33, with UV protection, on the same quick-reference sheet. |
| Installation | Professional installation. Vivint's product page says security-system purchases include it. |
Vivint's product page also mentions video resolution in two ways: one section says 1080p HDR, and a spec line says 1664×1664p with 2× HDR. The quick-reference sheet lists a maximum of 1080p HD for the model it covers. Confirm the resolution on the current offer before you buy. This page does not pick one figure and treat it as settled.

Pricing, monitoring plans, and promotions are set by Vivint and can change, so this page does not list them. The button goes to Vivint's shop, which is the address Awin credits for this program.
It sees the doorstep, not just a face
Vivint's product page says the 180° × 180° view shows a visitor's face and a package directly below the doorbell. That is the practical reason to look at this model instead of a narrower doorbell: the package on the mat is in the frame, not only the person standing above it.
It can react, not only record
Vivint says Smart Deter uses detection to tell people and packages apart from passing cars and swaying branches. Once a package is detected, the camera keeps watching it. If someone approaches that package or lingers in a zone you set, Vivint says the doorbell lights an LED ring and plays a sound through a 90 dB speaker.
One source conflict is worth asking about. The doorbell product page describes Smart Deter as AI and radar. Vivint's Smart Deter article is more specific: it lists radar-enhanced detection on the Outdoor Camera Pro 3, and AI (not radar) on the Doorbell Camera Pro 2. Ask which detection hardware is in the doorbell you would actually get.
Recording is another place to read the current page. Vivint's doorbell FAQ says the camera records when its sensors detect a visitor, and that custom actions can record clips for other system events. It does not say the doorbell records continuously. This guide does not quote an onboard storage size.
Someone else installs it
Vivint's product page says professional installation is included with its security-system purchases, and that the visit is not a DIY project. The quick-reference sheet, written for the technician, walks through mounting the doorbell, connecting it to doorbell power, pairing it to the Vivint panel, and checking live video in the app. Detection zones are something Vivint says you can set in the app. Ask whether the installer sets those zones and walks you through the app, and get that in writing with the quote.
The doorbell is meant to work with the rest of a Vivint system. The quick-reference sheet describes using it with the panel, the mobile app, locks, lights, and a garage controller. It is a poor fit if you only want a single gadget on Wi-Fi you already have. Start with the home network gear guide if the real problem is coverage, and with smart-home gifts for beginners if you want a plug or a streaming stick instead of a monitored system.
Who it is for
- You are an existing or prospective Vivint customer, and you want the doorbell on the same system as the panel.
- You do not want to mount, wire, or pair a doorbell yourself.
- Package detection and a tall view of the doorstep matter more to you than a self-installed doorbell.
Who should skip it
- You want a doorbell you install yourself. The Ring alternative below is that kind of product. Run the 90-second deal check before you order it.
- You only want to compare by a quoted package and plan. Vivint's terms vary by offer and by state. This page does not quote them. Ask Vivint for a written quote, then see current Vivint offers.
- You need a gift that can be wrapped without a sales visit or an installer appointment.
Questions to get in writing
These terms vary by offer and by state. Ask before you agree to a plan:
- Is professional installation included in this offer, and what does the visit cover?
- Which features, including cloud recording, Smart Deter, and app access, work with and without a monthly plan?
- If the home has no doorbell wiring, can the installer provide power, and is that part of the quoted work?
- What is the written quote for equipment, installation, and any ongoing plan?

Frequently asked questions
Does the Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro require professional installation?
Vivint sells its devices with professional installation, and its product page says installation is included with a security-system purchase. The quick-reference sheet describes a technician mounting the doorbell, connecting it to doorbell wiring, pairing it, and checking video in the app.
Does the Vivint doorbell need a monthly subscription?
Vivint sets plan requirements by offer, and they can change. Ask Vivint which features, including cloud recording, Smart Deter, and app access, work with and without a monthly plan before you buy, and get that answer in writing.
What is Vivint Smart Deter?
Smart Deter is Vivint's detection-and-response feature. Vivint says it can spot people near the door or a package and, when someone lingers or approaches a delivered package, activate the doorbell's LED light ring and a 90 dB sound. The doorbell product page mentions AI and radar together. Vivint's Smart Deter article lists radar on the Outdoor Camera Pro 3 and AI on the Doorbell Camera Pro 2. Confirm which one is on the doorbell in your quote.
Can the Vivint Doorbell Camera Pro see packages on the ground?
That is the point of the tall view Vivint advertises. The product page says the 180° × 180° field of view shows both a visitor's face and packages directly below the doorbell. The quick-reference sheet describes the same coverage as 180° diagonal, vertical and horizontal.
How is the Vivint doorbell powered?
It is a wired doorbell. The quick-reference sheet lists no backup battery and 12–24 V AC or DC, typically from an existing doorbell transformer. Ask Vivint whether the installer can provide power if the home has no doorbell wiring.
Is Vivint or Ring better for a video doorbell?
They suit different buyers. Vivint is a professionally installed system with a sales conversation and service plans. Ring sells a doorbell you can install yourself, with an optional subscription for some alerts. Choose by how much setup you want to do yourself, then see current Vivint offers if you want the installed system.
Did Daily Deal Hawk test the Vivint doorbell?
No. This guide is based on Vivint's published product page, its Smart Deter article, and the Doorbell Camera Pro quick-reference sheet. We do not claim hands-on testing.
